Biographical Information[edit]

Yale Lary played in the minor leagues in 1953, 1954, 1956 and 1957. He did not play much -- only a couple dozen games a year at most -- but still had fair success. In 16 games for the Lake Charles Lakers in 1954 he batted .429; in 24 games for the same club in 1957, he hit .354.

He later became a Pro Football Hall of Fame safety, punter and return specialist, playing for the NFL's Detroit Lions from 1952 to 1964. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler and a five-time All-Pro.
