Biographical Information[edit]

Yáder Soto pitched for the Nicaraguan national team in the 1990s. He had a 4.15 ERA in the 1993 Central American and Caribbean Games and got a win over Panama. In 1994, he tied for the Nicaraguan amateur league lead with 10 wins. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, he was 1-1 but with a team-high 14.21 ERA (Benigno Arauz was next, in the high 7s) with 11 hits and 4 walks in 6 1/3 IP. He got the victory in a 12-7 win over Simon Sheldon-Collins and Australia but gave up 4 runs in only 2/3 of an inning before a quick hook in a 12-1 loss to Cuba. It was Nicaragua's lone loss before the semifinals as they were otherwise 7-0. In the 1995 Pan American Games, he lost to Panama.
