Workhorse

A workhorse is a pitcher who amasses a lot of innings pitched, usually over a stretch of years and rarely misses a turn in the starting rotation. Use of the term implies that the pitcher in question may not necessarily be dominant, but that his contribution to the team is nonetheless important.
