Wombat at Bat

Wombat at Bat is a picture book by children's author Helen Lester. In it, a wombat moves to the US and is recruited by some animals for the North American League, believing the wombat's big size will help the team. Unfamiliar with baseball due to being from Australia (which actually has a fine baseball history and has produced several major leaguers; see the Australia page), the wombat proves less of an addition to the weak club than expected on the field but may be able to chip in in another way.
