Biographical Information[edit]
William Wheaton was a player and the vice president of the New York Knickerbockers in 1845. He began playing with the New York Gothams before Alexander Cartwright even organized the Knickerbockers and is credited for coming up with his own set of rules for the Gothams in 1837.
