William Walker (umpire)

William E. Walker

Biographical Information[edit]

William Walker was an umpire in the early days of the National League, working a total of 29 games over the circuit's first three seasons, from 1876 to 1878. Given the league did not have a permanent roster of umpires at the time and hired them on a per game basis, this is actually a significant total for the era. It helped that he was from Cincinnati, OH, one of the original cities to have a National League team.
