Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder William Maloney played in the minor leagues on-and-off from 1902 to 1910, though one source says his career began in independent circuits in 1897. He was weak with the bat, never hitting better than .239 in a season, per records available. In his first season, 1902, he hit .193 with just 98 hits in 507 at-bats for the Peoria Distillers. He also lacked extra base power, as he slugged .247 with 8 doubles, no triples and no home runs in 437 at-bats for the Richmond Pioneers in 1910. He also managed the Pioneers that season, leading them to a 63-60, 4th place finish.
