Biographical information[edit]

William Lander pitched at least two seasons in minor league baseball.

Lander spent the 1942 season with the Sheboygan Indians of the Class D Wisconsin State League (1 for 4) and the 1946 season with the Braves affiliated Leavenworth Braves of the Class C Western Association (8 IP). In between, he was drafted and served as an MP in England during World War II.

While in England, William met his first wife Dorothy. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Lander worked a series of jobs and pitched for company ballclubs. His longest job was with the Santa Fe Trailways.

His first wife, Dorothy, died of colon cancer in 1987. His second wife, Wanda, passed away after ten years of marriage. Lander died of aspiration pneumonia, dysphasia and dementia during the summer of 2010.
