White Lot

From BR Bullpen

The White Lot was a baseball field in Washington D.C. that was home to the Washington Nationals, Washington Mutuals, Alert of Washington, and Potomic of Washington. A soldier named Cornelius Savage, who played baseball during the Civil War said that President Abraham Lincoln watched his team play at the White Lot a few times. After the original National Association of Base Ball Players became limited to professional clubs only, the Mutuals and Alerts continued to play their home games at the White Lot until they were both banned from playing there in 1874 for unspecified reasons. The field was located in what is now President's Park. The White Lot appears to have been the closest baseball field in distance to the White House.
