Before the 1998 Western Baseball League season the Grays Harbor Gulls folded. The league took over the team and it played its entire season on the road. After a 20-25 first-half, they went 23-22 in the second half to take the northern division title, beat the Reno Chukars in 3 of 4 playoff games in Reno, NV before getting swept by the Sonoma County Crushers in the finals. Charlie Kerfeld was named Western League Manager of the Year. The club had two All-Stars - SS Lino Connell (.362, fifth in the league, .562 slugging, led the league with 9 triples, 2nd with 134 hits and 4th with 26 doubles) and C Jon Fuller (.293, 18 HR). The team was one of four to vanish after the 1998 campaign.
