Welland Aqua-Ducks

From BR Bullpen

A year after the Welland Pirates left, Welland, ON became home to another professional baseball club, the Welland Aqua-Ducks of the North Atlantic League. The Aquaducks were 32-27 in 1995, finishing five and a half games behind the champion Newark Barge Bandits and in second place. Guided by NAL Manager of the Year Ellis Williams, the club drew just 12,653 fans, last in the league. All-Stars were RF Chirs Neill (.337, 34 SB) and SS William Bellanger (.296, 18 SB, 7 triples). Ed Campaniello batted .339 while Brett Jones (7-2, 1.76) was the top hurler, third in the NAL in ERA.

The Aqua-Ducks finished fifth in the six-team league in 1996 at 33-44. Williams' team only had 6,877 fans show up, a distant last. The lone All-Star was OF Dan Dillingham (.356, third in average; 39 SB). It was the last year for both team and league.
