Biographical Information[edit]

Wei-En Lin played in the CPBL for 7 years. His brother Wei-Hsiang Lin played in the Taiwanese minors.

Lin made his CPBL debut in 2012 for the Sinon Bulls after he was drafted in the ninth round of the 2010 CPBL Draft, going 5 for 31 with a double, two walks and steal. His first hit came off Jon Leicester. His first homer came August 8, 2013, off Miguel Mejia. He finished that season at .238/.295/.285 for the club (now the EDA Rhinos). He fielded .960 and won the CPBL Gold Glove at third base. He was 0-for-6 in the 2013 Taiwan Series, and the Rhinos were swept by the Uni-President Lions.

The Yunlin native hit .224/.273/.265 in 2014, and his batting line was .235/.284/.267 in 2015. He was selected into the 2015 CPBL All-Star Game, and he had a 0-for-3 record. Lin attended the All-Star Game in the next summer, and he was 0-for-2. His batting line was .244/.304/.268 in 2016, and he was 1-for-2 in the 2016 Taiwan Series. The Rhinos beat the CTBC Brothers in 7 games, and Lin won his first title. He still played 53 games in 2017 with a .242/.312/.293 batting line, but Lin lost his spot in 2018 as young players like Tsung-Hsien Lee shined. He only played 7 games in that season, then he stayed in the minors in 2019. He was released after the 2019 season, and the Wei-Chuan Dragons signed him. Lin never played any games for the Dragons in the major league, and he announced his retirement after the 2020 season and became a coach. He managed their minor league team from 2021 to 2022, and he was named the bench coach in 2023.

Overall, Lin hit .234/.289/.274 with 249 hits and 33 doubles in 7 seasons in the CPBL.
