Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Wayne Wilson was taken as the 25th overall pick of the 1983 amateur draft by the Baltimore Orioles, between outfielder Jim Lindeman and pitcher Dan Plesac. He spent five years in the minor leagues, never playing above Single A.
He struggled with poor control, throwing more walks than strikeouts each year save for his last, 1987. In 1985, the only year he pitched more than 100 innings, Wilson went 7-9 with a 4.79 ERA in 126 frames for the Newark Orioles and Daytona Beach Admirals. He walked 77 batters and had 74 Ks.
Overall, Wilson went 21-19 with a 4.90 ERA in 327 innings, striking out 173 batters and walking 192.
