Biographical Information[edit]
Wayne Minshew was a sportswriter most noted for his time with the Atlanta Journal -- with the paper, he was an Atlanta Braves beat writer. He also wrote for the Americus Times-Recorder and the Jacksonville Journal.
Minshew, who was a voting member of the BBWAA, also worked as a correspondent for the Sporting News. He worked for the Braves as a member of their media relations staff and later as the team's director of public relations.
After a successful college career at Georgia, he played in the St. Louis Cardinals system in 1958 and 1961. He hit .207 in 87 at-bats and was 1-4 with a 5.60 ERA on the mound.
