Washington Senators (1891-1899)
Ballpark: Boundary Field (1891-99)
The first Washington Senators franchise began play in the 1891 American Association as the Washington Statesmen, and then continued as the Senators until 1899 as a member of the National League. they were one of four teams contracted out of the NL after the 1899 season, leaving the Nation's Capital market open for the new American League to move in in 1901 with another team known as the "Senators".
