Walter Cazen played 8 years in the International League. He played for the Baltimore Orioles, Rochester Red Wings and Syracuse Chiefs. During his time with the Chiefs, he set the career (140)and single season (74) franchise records for stolen bases. He also has the franchises hits record with 204 in 1945. He won two Governor's Cups in 1942 and 1943. In December of 1945, following his record-setting season, Cazen was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He died the following May at the Niagara County Sanatorium.

In 2002 he was named to the Syracuse Baseball Wall of Fame. In 2009 he was named to the International League Hall of Fame.
