Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Walt Hirsch played in the minor leagues from 1910 to 1915. Records indicate he went 69-81 in 6 seasons. He is listed as going 16-31 between two clubs in 1911. He had only one winning season, going 12-0 for the Meridian Metropolitans in 1912 to lead the Cotton States League with a 1.000 winning percentage. In 1914, he was 13-13 with a 2.76 ERA in 32 games for the Petersburg Goobers; the next year, he was 15-19 for the same club. He also spent some time in the field. In 1913, he hit .326 in 239 at-bats, though he was usually anemic with the bat overall.

In 1913, he was the second of two managers for the Meridians, replacing Carlos Smith.
