Biographical Information[edit]

Wally Ritchie was signed as a 4th round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and scout Jay Robertson. He was a submarine style reliever who despite having a low career ERA (3.14), only played 4 years in the majors. He had 12 years total in pro ball, including independent play.

After retiring as a player, he earned a degree in business management and an MBA in finance from Pepperdine University. In 2011, he was named pitching coach at Brigham Young University, where he had played as a freshman before transfering to Glendale Community College. He had previously been a volunteer pitching coach at Snow Canyon High School while serving as the city manager of Santa Clara, UT.
