Biographical Information[edit]

Wally Kopf was a a third baseman four years, 1919 to 1922, three in college, one in the Major Leagues and two in the minors. He was a World War I Veteran (BN).

He came out of college in 1921, and only had a two-game cup of coffee with the New York Giants, but it was long enough to earn him a bonus cheque for being a member of their World Championship team, even though he was never used in a post-season game. He returned to the minor leagues for the 1922 season. His brother Larry Kopf was an infielder for ten years in the Major Leagues.

Wally was a principal in a realty and building firm in Cincinnati, OH until he retired in 1975. He died at age 79 at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati from septicemia and is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Cincinnati.
