Biographical Information[edit]

Virgil Chevalier played in the minor leagues from 1995 to 2003. He played at Triple A in parts of four seasons, but never reached the major leagues.

He was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an undrafted free agent in 1995. He began his career with a .316 batting average between two clubs his first season, before slipping to .248 in 1996 then to .208 in 1997. He rebounded to .313 in 1998, then hit .293 in 1999 and .297 in 2000. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2000, hitting .125 in 8 games for the Pawtucket Red Sox. He had a career high 16 home runs in 2001, before joining the New York Mets system in 2002. There, he hit .300 at Triple A and .295 overall; He also had a 0.00 ERA in 2 appearances off the mound. In 2003, his final season, he batted .210 in 92 games between two clubs, tossing another scoreless inning.

Overall, Chevalier batted .274/.332/.411 in 962 games over 9 seasons.
