Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Victor Mederos went to five different schools - three high schools and two colleges - before being drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 6th round of the 2022 amateur draft. Less than a year later, on June 30, 2023, he made his debut with the Angels, pitching 2 innings in relief in a 6-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and giving up one run. In 3 appearances in the majors that season, he gave up 3 runs in 3 innings. He again spent most of 2024 in the minors, making just 4 appearances in the Show. He allowed 7 runs in 5 1/3 innings for an ERA of 11.81, and his first career decision was a 6-4 loss to the Texas Rangers on September 7th.

While he was born in Cuba, he arrived to the U.S. with his family at age 6 and grew up in Florida, where his favorite player was Jose Fernandez, His older brother is also named Victor. He is a trained barber, and his services became so popular among teammates with the AA Rocket City Trash Pandas in 2024 that the team's clubhouse manager purchased a used barber chair for him and installed it in the clubhouse so he could dispense his services more comfortably.
