Vane Sutton was a Sergeant in the US military when he played for the US in the 1956 Olympics; the pitcher hit a grand slam to turn a 2-1 game to 6-1 in their 11-5 victory over Australia. He spent 26 years in the US Army and US Air Force and later worked at Randolph Field Air Force Base. He is mistakenly listed as Vance Sutton in numerous sources.
