Biographical Information

Uzaburo Shintomi was on a Japanese team that toured the USA in 1935. Four years later, he joined Hankyu as a 1B-OF and went 0 for 6 at the plate. In 1940, he batted .153/.228/.203, then improved to .232/.316/.356 as Hankyu's cleanup hitter in '41. That December, he was drafted into the Japanese military and he died four years later in combat in Burma.
