From BR Bullpen

As with Tommy Watkins' article, I redid Valencia's and someone undid it. I'm not sure why and what exactly are the guidelines for Bullpen articles. I don't feel like going through here what I've gone through on Wikipedia. I wanna make sure I handle this crap properly, and don't wanna end up in any edit wars with these people also.--Johnny Spasm 21:06, 17 July 2010 (EDT)

In general, what you write here should be original to this site. They don't appreciate anything being transferred from Wikipedia to here. If you do feel the need to transfer something, transfers should be done very sparingly and only with material you largely wrote yourself and explain what you are doing on the talk page of that article. Use the preview option to determine which links are not translating from WP to here, and try to fix them before it is posted here. Having said that, if I were you, I wouldn't transfer anything until you are established here as a trustworthy editor. Pages on minor league players are welcomed and encouraged here, so start off with some pages on minor leaguers that would not even be allowed on Wikipedia.

Instead of infoboxes, player pages have headers that follow closely the format established by the main baseball reference site. See as examples the pages on Ty Cobb, Beau Mills, and Lou Brissie. Notice that baseball cards are allowed here to illustrate articles when a suitable public domain image is unavailable. The main sections of the biographical articles are usually titled "Biographical Information" especially with shorter articles. Notice that all words in section titles are capitalized here which is a break from Wikipedia's standards. Players who qualify, should also be given a Notable Achievements section. The rules for this are outlined here. The main Bullpen editors seem very touchy about changing the Notable Achievements section in any way. All professional ballplayers are notable here and deserving of articles from the guy who played one game of independent ball to the Hall of Famer. The most dedicated Bullpen member is User:Mischa, who is very anti-Wikipedia. He does a lot of writing on European and Asian baseball and can be very helpful if you have any questions about those areas of the sport. He is usually not available on Friday nights and Saturdays due to religious reasons. Keep an eye on the Special:Recentchanges page to see the dozen or so other main contributors. They each have their own areas of expertise. Let me know if you have any trouble. Kinston eagle 23:00, 17 July 2010 (EDT)
