Biographical Information[edit]

Shortstop Urban Meyer was taken in the 13th round of the 1982 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves. He hit .170/~.267/.245 in 20 games for the GCL Braves that year. The next season, he batted .120/~.333/.120 in 9 games for the GCL Braves and .250/~.400/.406 in 15 games for the Pulaski Braves. In 1983, he also began his college athletic career as a defensive back at the University of Cincinnati. He got married in 1986 and graduated college, then went into the football coaching ranks. In 2007, he guided the University of Florida to the Bowl Championship Series title over the favored Ohio State University. After five years and two national titles as coach of Florida, he resigned in December 2009 due to health concerns. The next day, he withdrew his resignation. He resigned again at the end of the 2010 season. On November 28, 2011, he was announced as the 24th head football coach at the Ohio State University. He guided them to a national title in the 2014-2015 season.
