Biographical Information[edit]
Tsutomu Takeda was the president of Meiji University from 1958 to 1968. He was also the president of the Japan Student Baseball Association from 1964 to 1983. It was in that capacity that he promoted international collegiate competition. He was instrumental in creating a Japan-USA University Baseball Championship in 1972.
Takeda was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001.
