Troy Doering has been a college coach. His brother Jason Doering played in the NFL.
Doering was All-State as a high school senior in baseball (shortstop), basketball and football (running back). He set his conference's record for rushing yards. He played football for Wisconsin in 1999 (going to the Rose Bowl) then hit .344 in two seasons at Triton Junior College. Transferring to Milwaukee, he hit .344 with 17 steals in 22 tries. He was named All-Horizon League. In 2003, he batted .295/.412/.329 with 41 runs in 48 games.
Doering became head coach of the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2006. He coached at MSOE until resigning in December 2013 to accept a job outside of baseball.
