Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Travis Harper was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 3rd round of the 1997 amateur draft out of James Madison University. After Harper signed with the team later that year the Red Sox claimed he was injured and then voided his contract. In July 1998 Harper was signed to a minor league contract by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Harper spent the rest of the his career in the Rays organization, including seven seasons in the majors. Harper's career highlight happened his rookie year of 2000 when he pitched his only complete game and shutout, hurling a two-hitter on September 24th against the Toronto Blue Jays. Overall Harper compiled a pitching record of 22-29 with a 4.94 ERA over 240 games, all but 14 of those appearances in relief.
