Biographical Information

Toyotoshi Chikada was drafted by the Nankai Hawks in 1987, and he was the only ambidextrous pitcher in NPB history. Chikada pitched one game in 1988, and he was 2-3 with a 5.52 ERA for the Salinas Spurs in 1989. He only pitched one game for the Hawks before he was traded with Masahiko Migita, Hiroyuki Yoshida, Yoshiaki Nishikawa and Shuji Fujimoto to the Hanshin Tigers for Chikafusa Ikeda, Eiji Iwakiri, Katsunori Tomari, Hisashi Ono, and he announced his retirement in 1991..
