Toyotama-gun is a former section of Tokyo Prefecture which was established in 1896 and integrated into the main city in 1932 as a result of massive urbanization. It became part of the Nakano, Tokyo, Suginami, Tokyo and Shinjuku, Tokyo. Tsuneo Watanabe was born here.
