Biographical Information[edit]

Tony Bianucci played two seasons in the minors; his brother Mike Bianucci has also played professionally.

Tony was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 36th round of the 1999 amateur draft out of high school. He went on to junior college, then the Boston Red Sox chose him in the 47th round of the 2002 amateur draft. He was only 7 for 79 (.089) for the 2002 GCL Red Sox, with 37 whiffs. He did have 13 walks, 6 steals in 7 tries, a double, a triple and 16 runs scored. He fielded .954 in the outfield. With the 2003 GCL Red Sox, he batted .260/.289/.342 as a backup right fielder, with 10 runs in 22 games, striking out in 31 of 73 at-bats. He fielded .889. Overall, he hit .171/.259/.230 in 60 games as a pro, with 26 runs and 7 RBI, fielding .935.
