Biographical Information[edit]
Tommy Hughes pitched five years for the Phillies and Reds and an additional five years in the minor leagues. He served as a member of the Special Services during World War II, being inducted into the U.S. Army, 19421219 and discharged 194601. He pitched a one hitter against NLCH, 19420602. He was an engineer for the Jersey Central Railroad and later for Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation and Crestwood Industrial Park, retiring in 1981. He died at age 71 and is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre PA.
