Biographical Information

Tom Richardson's only major league experience came just days before his 34th birthday, on August 2, 1917. In the eighth inning of the second game of a rain-soaked doubleheader, he pinch -hit for Eddie Plank on a field described as "a quagmire of mud."

He died on November 15, 1939 in Onawa, IA from a coronary embolism. His death certificate listed him as single, and showed his occupation at the time of death as "landscaper," a position he had held for at least 10 years.
