Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Meany was a well known sportswriter who wrote 14 books on sports (including Babe Ruth: Big Moments of the Big Fellow (1951) and The Magnificent Yankees 1952) and was the promotions director of the New York Mets at the time of his passing. He posthumously received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award in 1974.
As a sportswriter, he wrote for the New York Journal, Brooklyn Daily Times, New York World-Telegram and Morning Telegraph, covering sports in New York City and especially baseball.
