Biographical Information[edit]

Tom McManus took an unusual path to becoming a professional coach. While a student at Salisbury University, McManus played club baseball rather than playing with the university's baseball team. McManus graduated in 2019 with a degree in Atmospheric Science and Physical Geography and subsequently earned a master's degree in Coaching Education and Athlete Development in 2023.

After completing his bachelor's degree, McManus quickly moved into baseball related activities. In October 2019 he was named Director of Division III Baseball Operations for the National Club Baseball Association. He remained in this position through 2020. McManus moved into college coaching as Director of Baseball Operations for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County Retrievers during the 2021 season. He spent 2022 as a volunteer assistant coach at Norfolk State University.

The Milwaukee Brewers hired Mcmanus in 2023 as a development coach for the ACL Brewers. He only stayed in this position one season before moving to the Tri-City ValleyCats of the independent Frontier League in 2024 as a Fundamentals Coach.
