Tom Lorrentop has played frequently for the Belgian national team.
He debuted in the First Division with the Hoboken Pioneers as a teenager in 1998, going 4-4 with 9 saves and a 9.47 ERA. In '99, he was 2-3 with 5 saves and a 10.53 ERA. He still made the Belgian squad for the 1999 European Championship. In that event, he allowed 7 runs in 6 1/3 IP with control being an issue (4 walks, 3 hit batsmen, 2 wild pitches).
Lorrentop was 4-9 with 12 saves and a 9.39 ERA for the 2000 Pioneers and 7-4 with 13 saves and a 6.33 ERA in 2001. In the 2001 European Championship, he gave up 3 runs (2 earned) in 2 innings. For Hoboken in 2002, the right-hander was 7-7 with 14 saves and a 5.66 ERA.
In 2003, Tom was 8-4 with 13 saves and a 4.98 ERA. He was 0-1 with a 3.24 ERA (4th on the team) for Belgium in the 2003 European Championship. The next season, he went 3-6 with 7 saves and a 4.48 ERA for Hoboken, his 5th straight season of improved ERAs.
The positive trend continued for Lorrentop in 2005 when he was 4-2 with five saves and a 4.06 ERA. The former wild man walked 8 in 51 innings. In '06, he was 4-2 with six saves and a 4.09 ERA, then he followed in 2007 with a 1-3, 2 Sv, 3.05 record.
In 2008, Lorrentop had a record of 2-1 with two saves and a 4.88 ERA. In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers in Antwerp, Tom was on the Belgian roster but did not play. In the '09 First Division, he went 8-3 with 11 saves and a 3.29 ERA.
Lorrentop has also coached for the Belgian junior national team.
