"A good man for State and even National League clubs to keep their eyes on is pitcher Thomas Lipp, of the Hagerstown, Md., Club. He has lost but one game this season -- that against the Philadelphia League team on April 15. He is young, well built, has great speed, and curves, and is a good hitter. . . last season . . . played with . . . Lynchburg . . ." - Sporting Life June 8, 1895
