Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Tom Fletcher is the father of Darrin Fletcher and the son of minor league pitcher Glen Fletcher. Tom was at the University of Illinois in 1962, signed with the Detroit Tigers that same year, and was up in the majors for one game that September. A blood clot in his shoulder derailed his pro pitching career.

In his one major league appearance he pitched two innings, giving up no runs. He was ten years younger than Jim Bunning, the team's star pitcher who won 19 games in 1962.

Fletcher pitched in the minors through 1968, only once posting an ERA higher than 3.30.
