Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Earley pitched six seasons in the major leagues, all for the Boston Braves. He first came up under manager Casey Stengel. Earley entered the U.S. Navy on November 7, 1942 and pitched in service ball during World War II for the Norfolk Naval Training Station.
Baseball Digest of October 1946 tells a number of tales about Earley under the title "The Earley Bird". He had a reputation as a pitcher who worked quickly.
He also pitched in the minors from 1936-40 and in 1945-46.
