Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Clancy was a popular American author who wrote a number of huge bestsellers in the "techno-thriller" genre. He was also a minority owner of the Baltimore Orioles. Among his best-known books are The Hunt for Red October"" (1984), Patriot Games (1987) and The Sum of All fears (1991). Many of his books weer turned into movies, including the aforementioned three.
He was a part of the group that provided financing to Peter Angelos when he purchased the Orioles in 1993. As part of his divorce settlement in 1999, Clancy split his ownership in the team in half with his ex-wife, Wanda. He held 24 percent of the club before the divorce settlement, making him the second largest shareholder of the team.
Clancy was also "Vice Chairman, Community Projects & Public Affairs" with the Orioles at the time of his death.
