Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Bergan was 5-7 with a 4.75 ERA for Nebraska in 1994. He then signed with the Portsmouth Explorers of the Frontier League. Bergan moved to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays chain in 1997, getting his only taste of Organized Baseball. Bergan went 0-5 with a 6.35 ERA for the Hudson Valley Renegades that year.
Returning to the independent leagues, Tom went 5-5 with a 3.52 ERA for the Chico Heat and tied for sixth in the Western League in ERA. In 1999, Tom led the WL with a 2.93 ERA; he went 9-4 and made the league All-Star team.
Bergan moved to the Yuma Bullfrogs in 2000 and had a 5-5, 5.18 record there. In his second year with Yuma, his record read 5-5, 6.03 with a WHIP of 1.83.
While playing, Bergan was also the pitching coach at Shawnee State University from 1998 through 2001. He was promoted to head coach in 2002 where he served through 2007.
