Biographical Information[edit]

"Tim Shinnick, Louisville's agile second baseman, has never played in a losing team, and in the past five years his club has carried off the honors every time. . . one season . . . he left the leaders to join a team that was down in the race. From the very first day that he played his new club took a shoot upward and there was no stop until the top was reached. Both clubs won the pennants in their respective leagues." - Sporting Life of August 23, 1890, quoting the Louisville Commercial

Second baseman Tim Shinnick, one of the few players who both was born and also died in New Hampshire, played two years in the majors. He was successful with the 1890 Louisville Colonels, the only Louisville major league team to win a pennant, but then fell off a bit in 1891.

As a rookie in 1890, he was fifth in the league in both RBI and stolen bases.

Shinnick also managed several seasons in the minors. At one point he also coached at Phillips Exeter Academy.

"Tim Shinnick has been the team's captain and second baseman all season. To him is due much of the credit of the team's success. He has played fine ball, and has drilled the men in team work . . ." - Sporting Life of September 26, 1896, about Tim Shinnick's work with the Auburn team
