Biographical Information

Tim Mooney has been a college coach for over 20 years.

Mooney coached and taught at Jerome High School in 1981. He joined Albertson College in 1982 as a teacher in the physical education department, and also worked as a scout for the Seattle Mariners during those years. His most famous signing was Ken Griffey, Jr. When Albertson College reinstated its baseball program in 1987, Mooney was appointed head coach, a job he held until 2000. He led the team to a 29-1 record in 1998, when they won the 1998 NAIA College World Series and he was named NAIA Coach of the Year. He made the Series the next two years as well, finishing at Albertson with a 527-237-3 record. He also coached for the Tri-City Posse in 1996.

In 2001, Mooney was appointed head coach of Washington State University, only the 4th coach in the school's 71 years. He held the job for four years before resigning. He then became a fundraiser for University of Idaho Athletics. He also continued working as a scout, notably for the Milwaukee Brewers.
