Biographical Information[edit]
Tommy Johnson played, coached and scouted during his baseball career.
Johnson pitched for the Philadelphia Stars in 1940. He was in the Army-Navy USO during World War II then finished his master's degree in health and physical education. He coached swimming, baseball and football at Howard University and also pitched for the Indianapolis Clowns (1950), Brandon Greys (Manitoba-Dakota League) and Baltimore Black Sox.
Johnson was a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1963. During his academic career, he was chairman of the Organization of Black Physiologists.
