Thomas Claesson is the son of Robert Claesson and Yvonne Claesson and the brother of Joakim Claesson and Jakob Claesson.
Thomas was 2-0 with a 1.49 ERA for Stockholm in 2006, walking only 3 in 36 1/3 IP; the ERA was deceptive as he gave up 21 unearned runs. His four saves tied Rickard Reimer for the Elitserien lead. He was 1-2 with a 7.45 ERA in 2007, giving up a .403 average with 52 hits in 29 innings while only striking out five. In 2008, Claesson had a 3.80 ERA in 10 games.
Claesson has also worked with the Swedish Baseball Federation and he has coached for Sweden's Cadets (youth) national team.
