Team History[edit]

Two teams by the name of the Thetford Mines Miners played in the minor leagues. The first played in the Provincial League for three seasons in the 1950s. Thetford Mines is a small town in rural Quebec that relied on asbestos production to drive its economy for many years.

The second Thetford Mines Miners played in the Class AA Eastern League in 1975. The club, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, was managed by John Felske. The Miners posted an overall record of 59-80, finishing fifth of eight teams in the first half and last in the second half, and drew a league-low 16,360 fans. Second baseman Lenn Sakata hit .257 with 9 home runs and was the team's lone All-Star.

Both teams were known in French as the Mineurs.
