Biographical Information

The uncle of Andre Dawson, Theodore Taylor spent three years in the minor leagues.

Taylor was a 9th-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1967 amateur draft. He played that year with the Salem Rebels (.237/~.256/.474 in 13 games), Clinton Pilots (.167/~.241/.263 in 72 AB) and Gastonia Pirates (4 for 15, 1 HR, 1 BB). In 1968, Theodore returned to Clinton and batted .276/~.342/.376 in 111 games. He struggled defensively at second base (.881 fielding percentage, 23 errors in 42 games) and third base (.858 percentage, 23 errors in 53 games). Taylor stole 24 bases in 33 tries to finish fourth in the Midwest League in stolen bases. He scored 70 runs. In 1969, Theodore was with the Salem Rebels, now as an outfielder. He hit .265/~.332/.366 with 7 triples. He stole 12 bases in 15 attempts that year.
