Biographical Information[edit]
Tetsuya Tani debuted in Nippon Pro Baseball in 2009.
Tani won prefectural titles in shot put and long jump in junior high school. After high school, he played for Hitachi Seisakusho in the industrial leagues. The Chunichi Dragons took him in the third round of the 2007 NPB draft. He broke in with the big club in 2009, pinch-running for Kazuyoshi Tatsunami. For the season, he got into four games and had one at-bat (going 0 for 1). He went 0 for 5 in 2010. He was a shortstop for the Japanese national team in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup.
