Biographical Information

Terry Shumpert was signed as a 2nd round pick in the 1987 amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals and scouts Jerry Stephens and Wil Rutenschroer. He had played for Team USA in the 1986 Amateur World Series.

Shumpert is the uncle of Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts. His son Nick Shumpert was a 7th-round choice in the 2015 amateur draft.
