Biographical Information[edit]

Through 2008, Terry Mathews was the only relief pitcher of the last 25 years to have had three (or more) hits in one game. It was on June 20, 1995, when Mathews was pitching for the Florida Marlins and accounted for three of his nine career hits.

After retirement, he was a volunteer baseball coach at his former high school in his hometown of Alexandria, LA. He died in 2012, victim of a heart attack, at age 47.
